The burn scars happened exactly because he was thawed by fire
The island was completely on fire anyway, there were no books to be saved in the fire they were all thrown in the lake
Akainu's magma is superior to Ace's fire which already stalemated and arguably outdid Aokiji's attack, even though Aokiji's laughably stronger than Ace.
Aokiji has never frozen magma in the manga whereas Akainu has melted Aokiji's ice effortlessly in the manga

When all the fighters in your range are either Yonkos who are politically impossible to fight, or your own Coworkers, the pressure to develop Such a high tier Ability may not be as big, meanwhile The ex Rocks guys were in a life or death situation, Garp and Sengoku were in a more unsavoury era before Big Mom came up with the Yonko system
I think that ultimately this fight must have come down to haki
The two admirals had equally powerful DFs. Magma counters ice by melting it. Meanwhile ice counters magma by cooling it.
Therefore DFs couldn’t have been the deciding factor of this matchup.
IMO it was haki. The two had comparable haki for a majority of the fight, however towards the end, Akainu awakened ACoC, allowing him to defeat Aokiji.
This makes a lot of sense as becoming fleet admiral is a kingly ambition.
I think they both had adv coc and it just ends up being the person with the greater haki wins akainus drive for absolute justice overpowered aokiji sense of justice so to speak…. No diff than luffys goal to become pirate king lol ain’t nobody stopping it until it’s attained
It was like when the little brother challenges big bro, and big bro tries to take it easy on him, but little bro was being a tryhard, so he had to get put in his place at the end.
