Break Week Kuzan switching to the evil side is bad writing

#4
Of all people kuzan was the one who joined blackbeard a evil pirate.

Wasn‘t kuzan supposed to have a sense of justice?

This literally doesn’t make any sense and it doesn’t fit into the narrative.
It is not, Kuzan didn't became bad, he just wants to learn the Truth about Ohara, about reason why his friend Saul betrayed WG, and what One Piece is.

Wut?

Kuzan is becoming one of the most interesting characters in terms of writing

After everything he went through, it looks like he wants answers for the things he did, and we already had hints of that since pretimeskip during the Ohara flashbacks even if we don't actually know everything he has in mind.

He is coming up as one of the best written secondary characters easily.

He realized that there are other ways to change stuff around him even without being a Marine.

While Garp thinks the way to change things is joining the Navy, while Garp himself refuses promotions that would make him grow in authority for the Marines, Kuzan realized that doing the same things all over again wouldn't have different results.

He still has his sense of Justice. Blackbeard doesn’t promote evil, he promotes freedom which was what Kuzan was looking for. He’s still fighting for his Justice I’m sure.

Kuzan can do whatever the hell he wants under BBs flag; but kuzan has also never been a saint.

Kuzan intended to kill Saul and turned a blind eye when Akainu killed a ship of civilians back in Ohara. Just because you wear a marine coat doesn’t make you a pure hearted individual fighting for “justice”.

He’s easily one of the better characters in the series. Like BB said you got pirates all wrong, he endorses freedom and sailing together with a common goal in mind. His way of living is nowhere near as bad as the WG’s corruption.

At this point in Kuzan’s finding himself. His way of justice didn’t align with the navy, so he left and now he’s trying the opposite side of the spectrum with open minded pirates to search for his earnest way to live. It’s great writing so far.
