If he had a god complex he wouldn't had let Thorfin do what he does. He is actively interested in being wrong, he just wouldn't risk it with his kindgom

His dynamic with Thorfinn is the only redeeming quality he has.
But he works better as a foil for Thorfinn, than a character on his own.

Alone, he's nothing but a bitch who thinks he can commits whatever atrocities he wants in the name of "his own paradise on Earth".

Yeah Canute doesn't have a god complex. His face down with Thorfinn at the end of Farmland Saga pretty much shows this when he goes "behold the power of the King of the North sea, commanding the waves to stop" and mocking how little power he (a king) has when the waves resume.

He's pretty self aware of his limitations.
