Speculations Who will defeat Crocodile?

Crocodile, as a member of Cross Guild, needs to be defeated. As CG is part of the battle for One Piece.

While there are many options regarding who could defeat him, I think there are two that would make the most sense:
  • Jinbei
  • Smoker
Jinbei is his fellow warlord and his powers oppose Croc’s.

Smoker is a logia and has ties to him due to Alabasta.

Imo either of these would be really good choices to take on Croc in the final battle for One Piece.

It's pointless to have him losing again; I highly doubt any of the characters who are coming back but were dealed with in the past already will serve such an antagonistic purpose.

If he's defeated in any way it will serve a different narrative like Mihawk slashing him when he faces Zoro again right before Laugh Tale because Crocodile did something stupid and Mihawk saw him as an obstacle for his final duel; or something like this, but not a full versus.

But Oda is building up Cross Guild as a serious contender for One Piece, so it just makes no sense imo for him not to get a fight. He won't be the main villain or face Luffy, as he did in Alabasta.

But I think a battle against Smoker or Jinbe is reasonable.

Not in the slightest, Cross Guild's actual threat so far is only Mihawk plus Crocodile. What would the rest of the versus even be, apart from Zoro versus Mihawk? Who is getting Buggy the weakling to defeat him again? Who are the rest of the forces in the Guild? If Jinbe faces Crocodile, what about the rest of the crew? If Smoker faces Crocodile, why would he instead of other more protagonistic forces do the job?

Cross Guild doesn't look at all like an antagonistic force in the way the Blackbeard pirates and even the Red Hair Pirates feel, who to begin with are a proper crew with an actual captain. The only actual versus I can see for them is Zoro finally dueling Mihawk and that's not Cross Guild business. The only way I can see Cross Guild right now is as "filling" the narrative for the final arc, but that's it. Spicing up the world a little bit but never, ever posing a real threat to the Straw Hats as a group.

I think it’s likely cross guilds still growing and Usopp vs Buggy would be a great fight let’s be honest here.

As for the others, we’ve been introduced to characters connected to Cross Guild who could very well make up a Tobi Roppo class in the form of the underworld emperors afterall we’ve seen Stussy is not fodder and even Morgan’s was shown wrecking a CP agent.
