The original plan in Oda's mind had OP running for only 5 years. This should tell you enough about the current situation we are in.
Oda is not writing honestly anymore. Shueisha is just abusing him to milk OP as long as they can until he ends up like Togashi and they find a new toy to play with and make money off of.
Add the fact that Oda basically told us that it's irrelevant what happened 1000 chapters before because he will just adapt the manga for newcomers and you have one of the most dishonest writing ever.
I have my own agendas so I just follow it to see what happens to characters I once enjoyed but ngl. It's getting more boring than ever.
Pulling Chrono sooner or later. It ain't worth it.
