Brook could have even frozen the bombs tbf. I love Yamato's DF and design but my god he dropped the ball with the freaking daughter of Kaido.
She should have been his "Ace "ironically" and maybe played a Bellamy type role where she struggles with her identity and loyalty to Kaido, that he literally beat into her and brainwashed her OR she should have a fight with Jack at least, where they are the same age and Jack would have been seen as the ideal son for Kaido, as opposed to the "disappointment" and "annoying rebel" that Yamato is to him. The son he never had basically.
Im still adamant that Yamato wasnt planned. Oda really didnt seem to know what he wanted to do with her, sidelining her hard WHEN she showed have played more of a role like Law and Luffy vs Doffy where Law helped Luffy and she helps Luffy vs Kaido.
Having her want to join the crew and then backing out at the last minute was fucking daft. One of the worst "twists" and choices in writing I've ever seen. Some will say it makes sense because of Kaido being gone, her Devil Fruit and its role/influences, Wano needs a Guardian blah blah but I still think its fucking daft after all that build up and her telling the crew she was gonna join just before too.
Also her declaring shes Kaido's son or w/e, she might have done that to use Kaidos name to try to scare off GB and the Marines/WG but it was still daft and contradictory for her to do that imo.
Yamato is just a fucking mess narratively speaking but so are some other characters too, not just her. Kiku, Carrot, Kinemon, Momo, Hiyori, Denjiro, Asura etc.
