They didn't, it was a huge clash, King tries to take the swords but Zoro pulls up a purple aura out of his aura bag and they get blown away.

The auras can add sense of scale and depth on scenes. Like zoro and king clashing and you can see zoros aura blowing in the way of the attack. Some times the composition team might mess it up like on 1028 where they went overboard

The best episode of One Piece, even @Warchief Sanji D Goat changed sides and became a Zoro fan now, Lanji and Puffy are too bad next to the real GOAT.

I really enjoy how back and forth it was. King wasn't letting himself get cornered, same spirit as the manga but extended for viewers pleasure.

If he's the animator/director, kudos to Vince. He turned what was a satisfying chapter to a bombshell of an ep. Only good Zoro v. King ep too, from an animation pov.

Vincent is the animator who does Kaido characater sequences in the anime as well.
Also did the Kaido vs Yamato TB clash.

He's a really great animator, and i am pretty sure he worked on the final clash in this episode.
