Believe what you want but Nami has been irrelevant for a very long time, nobody cares about her story and dream outside of her hard-core fans. And that is comparing her with side characters, if you compare her to other main characters like Zoro or Sanji, her shortcomings become more apparent.

Zoro and Sanji only relevant because of fanbase Dick-measuring and nothing else
Nami has more panel time than both Zoro and Sanji
Zoro and Sanji are more irrelevant than Nami

For what I read the anime is slow and a episode is half or less of a manga chapter. I can't imagine how slow this is, specially with how Oda drags things out.
