According to leakers

Shanks was born in Skypeia but fell off, he landed in Marijoa and survived (thanks to Imu)

Imu believed Shanks to be special, and injected him with the miracles of science, this gave shanks conquerors and boosted his strength

He was supposed to join, and lead, the holy knights, but was taken from God Valley, by Roger

He later found out about this when a young Mihawk, another Holy Knight, told him (they didnt fight yet)
Shanks poisoned Roger, and pledged his alligience to Imu

But, Imu wanted to test him and so he fought Mihawk. he lost 2002 times.

Shanks was not allowed into the Holy-land and ran off crying

Ever since then he has returned to beg for a position


at some point, Mihawk left the Holy Knights to do his own thing. Shanks challenged him again, and lost.
