It is not about importance. I am talking about how Naruto emphasized 'hard work trumps everything' in part 1 only to see a different story in the final war.

Did it really though? I never finished Naruto but one of the biggest moments and fights in the early series that I remember everyone talking about was Rock Lee vs Gaara, and that entire fight was "hard work will never beat a guy who had a magic beast spirit before he was born".

The entire character of Rock Lee seemed to exist to tell the audience hard work is never good enough and you need to just be born the right way
