Are there spoilers in that thread? Major ones especially? Ive seen some panels from it and the tone is grimmer/darker than I expected, but Gintama also had entire arcs like that so it fits, especially with the concept this series also has, like Gintama too. Ye olde ex gangster/killer/assassin/whatever trying to have a normal life and settle down but the past keeps hauting them lol.
Sounds like a good series though to be fair! The Bullet Train movie had that concept and it was fantastic imo! Way better than I expected!
People of Gotham can finally breathe for a few days, while Joker is isekaied
but the people of this new world are fucked

**Title: "One Punchline Man: The Joke's on You!"**
*(The scene starts with a sudden, inexplicable anime-style portal sucking the Joker and Harley Quinn into another dimension. They end up in a world filled with skyscrapers, aliens, and superheroes.)*
Joker: "Hoo boy, Harley! It looks like our brand of madness just went international!"
Harley: "Or interdimensional, puddin'!"
*(Harley soon discovers her new power which works similarly to La Brava's Love Lover Quirk from My Hero Academia. Her adoration for Joker amplifies his strength tremendously, making him the "One Punchline Man".)*
Joker: "Well, well, who knew all it took was a little extra love to make me so...powerful!"
*(They return to Gotham, wreaking havoc with Joker's newfound powers, and Batman is left bewildered at the new Joker.)*
Batman: "Alfred, what the devil happened to Joker and Harley?"
Alfred: "It appears, Master Wayne, that they've undergone what the anime fandom calls 'power creep'."
Batman: "Power creep, huh? Then it's time I leveled up too."
*(Montage of Batman training in typical anime style, meditating under waterfalls, climbing mountains, pushing his limits, and making dramatic speeches about friendship and justice.)*
Batman: "Money may be my superpower, but it's my bonds with others that truly make me strong. It's time for the power of friendship and money to shine!"
*(Epic final battle scene. Batman, using his wealth and gadgets, manages to hold his own against Joker, but it's the 'power of friendship' that turns the tide.)*
Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, and even Catwoman join the fray, strengthening Batman's resolve.
Batman: "Gotham is more than just my city, Joker. It's a symbol of our bonds, our friendships, and you're not tearing that apart!"
*(Batman finally lands a blow on the Joker, who, weakened by Batman's tenacity and the collective might of his friends, goes down, defeated by the power of friendship (and money).)*
Joker: "Well, Bat, I must admit, you really know how to put a damper on the punchline."
*(As Joker and Harley are once again taken into custody, Gotham breathes a sigh of relief, proving once again that no amount of 'power creep' can defeat the heart of a hero and the bonds they share.)*
**THE END.**
I just remembered Joker has a new girlfriend/partner called "Punchline" in the comics recently? How ironic!
I'm laughing my ass off with Twitter / Musk sending a cease and desist to Meta / Zuckerberg over Threads
I guess we're getting that fight between the two, in another way

Pretty much, yes
but i think it deserved it's hype a lot more than Demon Slayer tbh
as someone that has read both series
Demon Slayer had a great anime, but the story is just okay, it's serviceable for the actual fights and stuff
It's pretty much Bleach, but better lmao

Best way i can describe is:
JJK feels like a mix between Bleach, HxH and Jojo
something like that

Your post here really resonates with me too:
Not everything needs to be the new Fullmetal Alchemist
sometimes it can just be a fun dumb series tbh
i'm kinda tired of how overly critical the internet has made me over the years
good were the days when i could just watch random stuff, even things considered awful, and enjoy them for what they were
now you have to hear from everyone how dogshit or how PEAK everything is, kinda

Being part of forums and communities in general can end up making you more skeptical/cynical of a series, more critical of it and I've experienced that VASTLY with One Piece especially and all the more so when I used to hang around a LOT with Drizzt (not blaming him at all, far from it, he was my goat and still is in retrospect) but also with Piratefolk and such.
I appreciate these open, more critical/cynical parts of the community including here too but you can have too much of literally anything and everything and it can really get to you and stop you having "fun" anymore.
I used to love lots of series because I just enjoyed and experienced them, I just "consoomed" them and didn't give a fuck. That's why I love Fairy Tail so much because it hit all the notes of what I really love too (the anime helped a LOT beyond words) and it was one of the last series I enjoyed before cynicism really took over me too.
We live in such a dichotomous era, so tribalistic, you're either for or against, all black or white, no grey areas. Yes I'm generalising ironically but it helps my point too. Its much easier to just pick a side and bandwagon, get into groups and especially target less successful series, characters and their fans (cough) and thus pick on the "weaker ones" like bullies do too.
It takes a lot more effort, risk, guts to form your own opinions, to make your own reviews and perspectives, to have your own individual thoughts, feelings, criticisms and put yourself and thus your ego, "reputation" and even friendships potentially at risk by having some "hot takes" and thus controversial opinions.
Ironically, I want to be more like the One Piece fans who just simply enjoy the series and don't obsess/dwell on it, the ones who seem to "simple minded" but ironically are some of the happiest and most carefree. Like how I used to enjoy and love one piece. I really got addicted to OP theories MANY years ago and that was it, the olde cliche of "my theories/headcanons didn't come true so OP sucks" but OP's writing has been much worse post TS and I stand by that too regardless of my own theories/agendas/headcanons and such.
I'm rambling as usual anyway but I used to watch so many fucking anime series and I just enjoyed them, I loved them, I didn't give a fuck and I miss that. I really do. Same with games and such. To this day, I still have NO idea how I juggled playing so many fucking games, watching so many anime, cartoons, tv shows, movies, all whilst having school/college/university and a bunch of hobbies, voluntary work and such too. How the fuck did I do it?!
@Shimotsuki Ghostly finished the first episode of Record of Ragnarok
it's...something
pretty straight forward story, i kinda have to get around my mythology nerd brain and accepting the changes to most of the actual mythology
i do like the anime-over the top designs for the gods though, that's fun

Aye, the story is very straight forward but it sets up some very interesting scenarios, fights, interactions etc. It relies on its characters to carry it and it does it really well, it really gets good tbh! I can see why certain users here adore Adam and Sasaki Kojiro from it now!
Yeah I had the same problem with the mythology changes too, especially with Thor and Shiva. It kinda grows on you though and the author does some pretty damn cool stuff with them! Buddha is an absolute wildcard but you won't see a lot of them, you won't even see them until Season 2 too lol.
It's worth persisting for the Adam, Sasaki and Jack the Ripper fights. I won't spoil them but they are really fucking good in their own ways imo. I'm a sucker for well written characters, motivations, stakes, emotional stuff and they delivered imo.
I ended up binging the series, addicted it to like crazy once the ball got rolling. Lu Bu who I'm familiar with from Dynasty Warriors and the memes with him is fucking epic later in the fight and between him, Sasaki and Hercules, I feel thats how Kaido should have been written or something like that.
I'm glad you're trying it though at least! That's awesome!
The designs are my favorite part of this show it’s insane.
I think Buddhas design is my favorite lmao

Honestly it feels so good to be sucked into a new series and addicted to it again! Reminds me of my early days getting into Jojo and MHA lmao. Until the Mid Nation attacked MHA too.

I'll make a start on new series next week and tbh given my binging habits too, I might end up watching a bunch of series in sucession too. Including JJK then.
