I cannot tell honestly sometimes, but when I watch a match between those four, I get that vibe of intensity... where Espanyol is more intense against Barca, Atletico more intense against Real Madrid, while Espanyol vs Real Madrid has less Tension, Atletico vs Barca has less tension
So It's just an observation I have as a fan for great Laliga

Hi , thanks for asking this question it's complicated i can tell you that , barca fans they claim the club stands for "Pride of catalonia" and Espanyol club stood for Castilian and Franco back in his regime . Its just derby we catcall barca fans who claim themselves as true Catalan fans its all fun but i don't like when they call us traitors and sell out to madrid which is ridiculous honestly .
We really don't care if Madrid beats them nor we cheer them , its complicated history again (Check Franco's regime ). I am not sure why Atletico should cheer for barca since most of the players talks about separating Catalonia from spain . In derby games intensity are high because of club history and political tension and today's generation don't care much unless Germans , Englishman make fun of our la liga haha.

I see, and yeah, I heard about the Franco regime a lot considering when I used to be addicted to Football back in the day (Not anymore thankfully Lol) I used to be a Real Madrid fan, so you can tell how many time a braca friend of mine talks to me about Real Madrid former glory was only due to Franco supporting them Lol
For me, not to sound cold or harsh, but I only cheer the team cause I like their play, I like the players, I like the team jersey shirts designs, also ever since I was a kid, my older brothers were suppoter of the team, so it's a bit logical to follow after your older brother... He's still addicted and obsessed with Real Madrid to this day.. I honestly just lost passion for that sport after The golden age of players retired (Brazilian Ronaldo/Zidane/Figo, Raul...etc) they were not playing to win championships, they were playing for entertainment Lol, my style and what I loved about them

if people still talk about Real winning because of Franco regime is hilarious .Nowadays none says such stuff and of course after failed Catalonia revolution i am very much on spain being united . Not all people in barcelona hates Madrid , i forgot how Ramos , casillas are still greeted as heroes when they got us the world cup .

From current players of Real, I think Luka Mudric is kinda similar, Ricardo Kaka WAS similar.. those type of players you can just feel they are good human being, regardless if you like their skill or not, against you or with you...
