Auger dodged Ace's Direct attacks and he's ussop's opponent of all people. Some characters are meant to be 'cool' and some are meant to be clowns (like Burgess) regardless of power levels.
And being introduced together could mean they are meant to be the Zoro and Nami of BB pirates.
In Alabasta Miss double finger was introduced next to Mr 1 as his companion.
In W7, only Blueno, Kaku, and Kalifa was introduced early and they ended up being Luffy, Zoro, and Nami's opponents. Oda then replaced Kalifa with Stussy who is definitely closer to Nami than she is to Sanji in the CP0 trio. And when the rest of CP0 were reintroduced, Only Kalifa and Jabra were highlighted next to each others
In Wano, Ulti immediatly got way more screentime than than the rest of the tobi roppo clashing with the likes of Luffy, BM, and Yamato because Oda wanted to highlight Nami's opponent even if she wasn't that strong.
Oda will always highlight some characters according to who they fight. Lafitte was introduced next to Shiryu because they are the Zoro and Nami of BB pirates
Shiryu and Pizzaro fit very well as Zoro and Sanji's opponents. The serious bloodthirsty assassin and the very goofy opponent which is the common theme of all past Zoro and Sanji's opponents. Lafitte ,like Ulti, is all about loyalty to Teach and scolding other crewmates which more fits with Nami
