Avalo Pizaro played a major role than Shiryu in Hachi island, YES.
So far Shiryuu's role has been to just weaken the opponents through trickery. I think he might pull a similar move on Shanks and Luffy in future, that's when Zoro has to intercept it. That's why he's deadliest than Magellan, he do his job.

No, they cant. Squardo's feat didnt mean much in the grand scheme of things. Whitebeard went down by 267 sword wounds in addition to 46 canons, 152 bullets and Akainu's meigou.
