This is the moment of early awakening, when you opened your eyes, but not yet fully awake, but you already see the environment and so on. This is definitely not a dream, because when the paralysis ends, you just come to your senses.
I recently learned that sleep paralysis during falling asleep and waking up is quite common.
I just thought how scary it must have been for people in the past when there was no internet. They probably thought they were going crazy, or that they had been corrupted.
Yeah now i get your situation. That state of not being fully awake (you're still aware) is when that happens. For me, the best way is to avoid the whole experience by forcing myself up the moment i hear those dreadful bells/chimes. I get around 3-5 seconds max between the start of those bells and losing movement. If for some reason i fail that first window of 3-5 seconds, then i just go on a abusive rant and it works wonders. Ive been experiencing this for like last 12 years, and it always got me in a panic state but lately i found out, not giving a shit works wonders (your heart beat goes bonkers and its easier said then done but going through that shit very often for a long long time helps you fight it.
