Well, if Kizaru has to hold back due to Egghead like Fuji and Ryukogyu at Mariejois I could totally see it being a sword duel.

Kizaru could just say something like "All the Marines from VA and up are trained in all the 5 common fighting styles. Rokushiki, hand to hand combat, DF mastery, haki and swordsmanship".

If King can be that proficient while not being a swordsman, why can't Kizaru?

We could see a stalemate or slight upper hand for either of them (with Zoro replicating Rayleighs feat) and postponement. Then later in the series we see Zoro vs Kizaru 2 and this time Kizaru can go all out.

Remember what happened during Wano war. Some fans claimed Zoro wouldn't make it to the rooftop, wouldn't fight a Yonko, is weaker than the SN captains, and WWs would be his main fight. All proven to be wrong.

Zoro is top tier. His goal is not to beat an admiral. His goal is to be the WSS. WSS is not a title limited to a certain group or organization. Mihawk is the WSS so Zoro must beat Mihawk. Stop trying to make admirals out to be as important as Mihawk.

Shiryu don't determine Zoro's strength. Zoro has defeated characters in the past weaker than himself, who he struggled some against. Remember, Luffy who beat Kaido yet struggled against a child seraphim who is weaker.

I've already counted this post by providing scenes showing King is strong. You are just mad Katakuri is the original gimmick master who only look strong because he spent most of his battle facing a veteran level Luffy.
