shit even after knowing what happened in the manga I still couldn't understand wtf he was doing in the anime

Some animator failed his job miserably and probably couldn't replicate toon style so he just gave up and just decided to cut every 2 frames with lights and nonsense and just gave his work to the director but it was already too late to fix it so they went with it

They had trouble mixing cartoon simplicity with the over the topness of japanese anime, even though they nailed it in a few other scenes.

Gear 5 being Gear 5 and the animation being amazing, especially in the second half, means that the episode is still very good but It will join the likes of episode 1027 and 1046 in the list of episodes that should have been much better and only have the animation going for them, when it should have been on the level of episode 1015

G5 seriously has potential but they need to keep it simple for us to see Kaido crazy looney toon reactions and make it out of what G5 is doing


I think Pre TS animation style would be perfect for this but we all know what toei will do smh

hiyori parts were wack and pacing was terrible. But all the luffy vs kaido parts were great.

Cartoons being frantic and over the top and expressive is the point lol.

The timing reminded me of the "The Mask".

Apart from the Hiyori bit, this episode was great. This was just a transformation episode so we have more to come. Toei made Luffy split the sky by himself. :pepebusi: Anime scaling will be on full mode now.
I hope they tone down on the eye pop a bit tho. It's good for a few moments but will suck ass if overdone. Why did Oda even draw hiyori and Orochi's shit in this chapter? That couldhave been done at the end.

I understood every single thing that was happening in your video, can't say that for the Luffy and boro breath bit.

By over the top I didnt mean the expression of Luffy obviously, but the animation being too flashy, the weird angles making it hard to understand what was happening on screen. I thought it was obvious in context
