indoctrination=teaching a doctrine=education.
Brainwashing is psychological torture.Religion is something that is part of the human experience for most people.Bashing people for their religion is the same as bashing someone for their need of air.
I had a christian background, but i was full blown atheist.I was convicted religion was superstition we created to cope with the hardships of life and that any supernatural phenomena was made up bullshit.Pretty arrogant view now that i look back.

Supernatural phenomena are interpreted based on the person's religion but quite a few of them are universal and are simply given different names/reasonings
Ok? I just added on the "cope with hardships". Obviously thats not exclusive to religions. Religions are just super effecient because of the indoctrination of children

I think religion can be helpful for some people. But also, a lot of really conservative sects of basically any religion have the habit of being pretty toxic.
for me, I feel like Judaism has been an overall benefit for my life. Helps me meet more people, gives my life some sort of structure, praying is fun, and overall it makes me a better person.
but also
A lot of people take it WAY too far. Like with Orthodox Judaism, it’s honestly kinda sexist.
women aren’t allowed to hold significant positions in the congregation(ex. They can’t be rabbis)
Women aren’t allowed to get a divorce unless their husband consents
Men and women need to be physically separated by a barrier inside the synagogue

and then there are people like this who just engage in outright terrorism and make the entire religion look bad

no dude, these settlers legitimately engage in terrorism.
They’re religious fundamentalists who want to revive the ancient Jewish kingdoms of Judaea and Samaria, aka the West Bank. They think they have sole rights to the land by decree of God.
However Arabs are a majority in these lands and hence the settlers wish to push them out and/or subjugate them.

And I think what the settlers’ want is honestly a bastardization of Zionism.
Zionism was never a religious fundamentalist movement like ISIS. It was created by secular Jews who saw the rise of antisemitism in Europe and wanted to create a place where Jews could be safe and have their own autonomy.

About religion?
Every religion is Safe until followed from a safe Distance. Basic rules....
Moment they go into depth , rituals , customs there's no safe religion anymore.
