Current Events Why is Smoker being separated from the rest of the marines? Is he an admiral candidate?

So we’ve now had two major marine subplots, the raid on hachinosu and now egghead, where Smoker is completely absent.

What is going on? We saw Tashigi sailing with Garp to Hachinosu, but no Smoker?

At first I assumed he’d be part of the egghead fleet, but given how that didn’t even happen, it’s clear Oda is separating Smoker from the rest of the marines.

Imo this can only be due to his strength. Smoker didn’t go to egghead or hachinosu because he’s simply too strong and having him in these arcs would fuck up major plot points. Perhaps Garp wouldn’t have gotten captured or it would be far harder for the SHs to escape were Smoker in egghead.

Overall, I feel like it’s highly likely that current Smoker is an admiral candidate. He likely has a zodiac name(imo White Snake), and I don’t think he’s that much weaker than Kid or Law.
