Ratchet

The End and the Beginning
didn't our forum mafia section mod come from there as a prominent host and player and key voices of that section?

hell he was so close the creators that he went to MM with them so i dont see how its so bad here when Ratchet on paper should be perfect for this role
I assume Naomi was playing on OJ after we had left - we never modkilled for flaming. The most was giving FinalBeta a strike for game throwing, which then got upgraded because he continued to make several members of the community uncomfortable. He was the only player that ever got banned too, so an expectation that players who are, by and large, decent members of community will get banned over one offence (like modkilling themselves) has just never been the case.

I don't really think you're interested in hearing my perspective on this anyway - games are subject to the global rules of the site, and otherwise hosts have full discretion on how they want to moderate their games. I opt for that because I believe it's for the best - limits overreach from a moderation standpoint and prevents there being a single point of failure when things do go wrong. Again I'm happy to discuss this whenever but not if it's going to be in bad faith. As far as Flower's situation goes I will reserve further comment until after the current game is over.

Naomi started playing in late 2018, same as me, and there were multiple cases of modkills due to flaming. Or modblocks. I remember Chris (who moderated the section) taking it very seriously. You also got warnings for using offensive language (which is why I got used to censoring myself when I used words like f***, for example). I think we should try eliminating personal insults and offensive language in general from this section. Communities like MU don‘t really tolerate that either. Games can be played without all that, can‘t they.

Some hosts don't want to strictly moderate their games. That's why coaches have no say in this section anymore. Some people decided upon this and this will never be reverted. It's the individual host's problem to deal with and not to blame the community for.

in addition:
we have forum rules apparently

idk how uptodate this is, but guests and new players will always look at this for reference

I don't wanna know how many rules there have been broken and how often people do check up on this (afaik never)

based on our forum policies we should punish like 10 times as much probably, as we do right now
but hey...who enforces this forum rules? kek

Those rules look good enough for me, just enforce them.

Then just make a rule that these rules must be enforced. Seems good enough.

rules also have to be enforced when a host isn't there or asleep for example...
so a person with substitutive judgement has to step in, like a co-host, coach, mod.
for this the hosts have to consent and we would be back to where we were before, a more strictly regulated community.

I mean, we can all agree that it was better before, no? I see no problem with taking a few steps back again if it means we can enjoy games and play in peace again.

They can, but at the same time, I don't want to enforce a nanny state where everyone has to be perfectly polite at all times - Mafia gets heated and I believe people should be allowed to express that. Obviously, slurs are a no-go, but general profanity (depending on where it's directed) is fine. I don't really want this place to be like Mafia Universe, where oftentimes you are more mindful about what you're saying than you'd like to be.

To use an issue you've brought up, being tunneled for several days can certainly be frustrating, but I'm not going to say "you can't do this" because it's valid within the boundaries of the game. Obviously people should try to be mindful where they can, but ultimately it's on the person getting frustrated to remove themselves from the situation if they feel like they aren't able to control their emotions at that point.

That of course, doesn't give anyone license to berate a player over and over again because they feel their objection to the player is justified.
