Was Whitebeard Scared of Oden there?.. No.. He was worried for his crew..
Same with Luffy, he's worried for his crew.. Whatever may be coming, Kizaru or an Attack..
Whitebeard and Luffy both are very protective of they Family.. Well Luffy's not a Family but pretty damn close..
Oh yeah.. Whitebeard doesn't have Light coming from under him to make the drawing more dramatic..

There's a lot of cases where people show genuine fear of other characters and admit they might be defeated by them.
Hell, Sengoku, the mother of all Admirals, thought that they might STILL lose against Whitebeard and crew despite having the entire navy, 7 Warlords, Pacifista, Sentomaru, etc. helping them
I'd show more examples but I'll be making a thread on it later today anyway.

I don't have an Admiral agenda, I already have Luffy and Zoro above the Admirals because of Aokiji's bad showings against Garp. Maybe the Admirals can recover the reputation if Kizaru shows off here but otherwise no.

Shitting his pants was an expression to show the difference between the two situations. Luffy is shocked and worried.
Luffy was literally scared of Mihawk in MF, he saw his arms getting cut and ran away from Mihawk, he knew he can't fight him.
BM was worried about Zoro's attack and warned Kaido and Kaido was shocked.

I have a completely different idea of bad showing then.
Obviously he was not completely on par with him even counting he was fighting his mentor, but I think it is completely normal.
