I think that they would try to protect any member of their team at this stage. Luffy and Nami had strong roles.

They were trying to draw attention away from Luffy yesterday, who is a hella strong role, by having her claim. The only possible reason as to why her is because her role is most likely least useful.

It was a busdrive, are you familiar with it?

Of course they predicted it, Watson is outed scum, and Lanji still seems to have some doubts about the others for unknown reasons.
