Pathetic
I remember when i joined nastp 2 years ago, i had this session planned with the project team (it was just 12 people back then compared to hundreds now).
I was supposed to give them an introductory workshop on project management and agile practices.
In my last couple of slides, i mentioned work life balance and why it was important was employee satisfaction and high productivity. One of the uniformed officers gave his applause on it and mentioned why it was so thoughtful of me to include such an important factor that we miss.... Well what a hypocrite clown he turned out to be...the same officer made one of his cloud administrator sleep in office and work all night on setting up a server. (That cloud administrator was also at fault for not REFUSING to his absurd requirements)
I had no clue about this, and one day, i forgot my apartment keys in office so had to drive back. It was around 7 in the evening.. i went to office and was surprised to see that cloud guy dozing off on his work station. I asked him wtf was he doing there and he said its ok, ive been asked to work and i can sleep here. (On his chair resting hus head on table)
I got so triggered, i called that officer and asked about it and he said the cloud guy was cool with it.
Like WTF. Both of them were unreal. One was an idiot who didn't know how to draw boundaries and the other was a hypocrite jerk.
Same!
There were other Lab Demos who where working their ass off and handling 2-3 labs at the same time. It is not easy by any stretch of imagination.
There were a lot of other stuff that you can notice if you pay attention to it.
Like the one you mentioned, hypocrites.
The guy said when we go to smaller areas they treat us like kings, but when they come here they are fine with working in small cabins and they would be happy if we give them a chair and table.
The young graduates are conditioned to bear all this and consider it a normal practice.
Funny story; They gave me a survery to know job satisfaction, reason for leaving, potential problems with other workers etc.
And I gave perfect score for all the queations (intentionally and sarcastically). I think they got the message cause the HR guy had a big smirk on his face when he was reading it.
Later, they were trying everything to convince not to leave (offered paid one month leave, to let them know if someone has said sth offensive, etc).
But I knew what was going on and didnt fall in their trap.
I am Campus and Institute gold medalist with 8 research articles published in int. journals. I dont even apply on such jobs now.
