When I was entering 6th grade, required reading for the class was a book called Parvana's Journey. It was about a young girl in Afganistan trying to find her family after her father died, while being oppressed by the Taliban.

At the end of the book, one of her companions, a nine-year-old girl known for walking through landmine fields, dies doing that, and is killed by a landmine.

I still remember weeping into my mom's chest as a child, wondering how my government supported murdering innocent girls, and seeing her blank look. It broke me.

My mental illness was truly born the day I realize my parents knew that my country, the US, openly loved murdering children in the Middle East, and no one cared.

What the US, Isreal, and Europe has done to the Middle East is just as disgusting as what Hitler did to the Jewish people.

People lack Simple kindness and Empathy these days.
It's not just the people at power but average lacks it too.
They are comfortable with that fact makes it even more infuriating.

I still don't understand how people sleep after doing this to others.

Problem with WW2 is that it gave some easy ass propaganda. A US citizen believes America joined WW2 in retaliation to having their people murdered, and that their presence alone won't the whole war and made America the first world Super Power, the greatest and freest county to ever exist. Anywhere not America is lesser than them and an enemy of democracy. Nothing is wrong in a nation of nationalists.

These radical parties are preying on the vulnerable and overworked. I remember when the AfD were new they stood against EU imperialism etc. Today they talk about world domination fantasies.
