They flip*
The reason I keep making a note of this and their specific play is to encourage people to see if there's a genuine vote (which means they're likely town aligned) or there's something else there (scum aligned.)
A theoretical--keyword is theoretical:
Like, let's say they throw a vote on me after either the Midnight wagon fails to gain any further momentum. I need to take a pause and see how I can go about this since their play is unique and requires some extra thought.
As town, giving them something like non-reactions avoids a possible confirmation bias about me. They can't point fingers and say, "this is a highly suspect reaction" because they have nothing to really go off of. The only thing they could go off of is the fact I didn't reaction to their vote on me. A non-reaction is still a reaction, but it's more complex and you're placing the responsibility on them to see what my intent is.
Giving them a reaction to my lynch can also result in confirmation bias, but it becomes a harder puzzle to solve because they'd have to rule out whether they feel they've baited a sincere reaction out of me or there's something off about it.
Essentially, as town, you have to tango with players of this caliber because the way they solve diverges from the traditional way WG is used (mech clears, reacting without any considerable thought beyond "fuck you assholes, I'm town.")
You have to play their game and take a different approach.
If they survive toward endgame and I don't, I hope this is taken under consideration.
