ONE PIECE Live Action - Episodes Discussion Thread

This live action obviously isn't perfect and not everyone is going to enjoy it especially if you are a hardcore manga and anime fan that wanted a perfect adaptation, some will end up enjoying this live action and others will end up not liking it and that's perfectly fine.

But for those who keep making excuses and saying stuff like it's nothing but fake hype or people are being paid to give it good reviews, please kindly shut the fuck up, like seriously if you don't like this live action that's fine but don't be salty and make excuses just because others enjoyed it.
Ah, okay. I suppose it's a coincidence that every content creator that collabed with Matt Owens gave it a 10/10? I wouldn't necessarily say they were paid off, more that he begged them as a "friend" to give it a good review.

I finished the live action and I say it’s a solid 7/10.

I liked how the live action told a cohesive storyline that could draw in non anime fans while also including easter eggs for long time fans. I liked seeing the characters slowly bond and become a crew. The set design was magical and really felt like the world of One Piece was brought to life. I absolutely love the soundtrack.

I enjoyed Scottish Garp, however, I think the show could have made him more fun loving and goofy. Koby’s actor really nailed his role and Helmeppo’s actor was great too. I don’t think it was necessary to have the marines in every episode.

I also liked how the show incorporated Buggy throughout the season. I liked seeing how the other pirates communicated with one another because it gave more depth to the world.

The most unexpected part of the live action was Ben Beckman. It was so unexpected that I found it hilarious. The RHP are full of dead beat dads and LA Beckman has the dad bod to prove it!

Syrup Village should have been an episode and a half instead of two episodes.

I like the Sanji and Zeff flashback but Sanji should have witnessed Zoro and Mihawk’s duel. That was a pivotal moment for his character. Also Sanji leaving the Baratie didn’t have the same emotional impact as it did in the manga or anime. I also think the live action could have incorporated Gin better. I am ok with Mihawk defeating Krieg.

I didn’t like how the show completely disregarded Nami and Genzo’s relationship. He didn’t feel like a father figure. I also hated how Cocoyashi villagers were oblivious to Nami’s sacrifice. They just hated her instead. I prefer the manga version where the villagers pretend to be oblivious to Nami’s plan.

Yeah the manga version was much better in this aspect

like Nojiko explaining Nami’s deal with Arlong to the SH is a big reason why they forgave her for betraying her.
Wrong, they forgive her when Usopp was shown alive,so the reason why Zoro wanted to beat her gone. Plus Luffy and Zoro didn't listen Nami's backstory. Luffy wasn't mad on Nami at all.

I've watched 4 episode and lemme tell you something:

If people expect the LA to follow the manga as close as possible, they are heavily mistaken. Rather, people should view the LA as an own thing. It is very different to the anime and manga.
Is it thus bad? Imo it is not. As long as it is entertaining, I won't mind the LA changing canon events.

So far this is the best LA adaptation from anime and manga... if we exclude the Kenshin LA.

I give it a 7.5/10 so far.
