Nah he was beating Aang pretty badly.
Aang literally always runs away from fights, for like the entirety of TLA. I can’t think of one fight that he wins by actually trying to fight aggressively, he literally runs away from every fight. And the fights he doesn’t run away from he usually loses (Bumi, Azula).
Aang does try to fight defensively/run away from Ozai but Ozai was still whooping him pretty severely.
And yes Avatar State Aang pretty severely decimates him, but that’s what the avatar state does lol. The Avatar state is designed to overwhelmingly crush whatever foe stood in front of it, with the sole exception of Azula in one occasion who caught Aang off guard with a lightning bolt. Other than that, the Avatar State wrecks everyone until Korra treated the avatar state like bitch mode lol.
But yeah Ozai was like, the strongest bender in the whole series lol, the series creators even said he was above Iroh which puts him above all the White Lotus dudes who were around Iroh level

Personally I have no stock in whether he has it or not, but I think we will see him use it eventually on panel

Oda is never secretive about BBs, especially when we can literally see it right there, so why give us the run around?
But if it is a Black Blade.... Okay.
It wouldn't really lower Mihawk stocks nor heighten Aramaki stocks.
Dude's an Admiral, and even though I'd still have him below Mihawk (the whole "World's Strongest Swordsman, above even Shanks in strength and skill" thing and what not) I would expect someone of his caliber to be able to forge a BB, plus he seems to be focused on hardening Armament as opposed to Issho who has marvelous Observation and Kizaru who.... Idrk what he has yet.
