Later in the game it seems they've killed off the weaker roles that needed to be unlocked to prevent direct hits. That seemed to be their secondary worry.
Bravado. The gorilla is a nice touch.
Milking deepwolf theory.
Lots of emphasis on tinfoil - which does tend to be successful (look at my track record of this.)
The trick is to put them in their place, like this:

'We' is ambiguous for a reason here.
Another reason that they killed RA is because they believe they've already got this game locked in. They were banking on the deep wolf theory to ensure a victory, but it wasn't as smooth sailing as they hoped for.
Perhaps Pot actually connected the dots or they were worried he would, which meant that getting a mislynch on RA would be incredibly difficult.
I may entertain the deep wolf theory on me if Mr. Bravado wants to go down an that road.
