Still underestimated Luffy, at least that's how I felt when I was watching the arc
He underestimated him yeah but that's coz the dumb luck on Luffy's side can't actually be predicted

Remember he made a deal with fujitora to have fujitora capture the strawhats. That was a done deal

Then Luffy's brother happened to be the revolutionary commander and a lot of random thing happened to lead to the toys being turned back to human and then fujitora changed his mind because fujitora happened to be the nice admiral

Like a lot of dumb luck

Same as in Wano with the whole kin'emon accidentally saving the alliance due to dumb kuck

I guess if people tried to dig deep into it, and theorize on what he could possibly have sent in his message, then they could consider it wasting their time. But isn't theorizing in One Piece half the fun? 99.9 percent of the time we're all wrong anyways.
But that's the waste of time part

The message wasn't anything

It's not that we were wrong about what the message was, it's that the message WASNT ANYTHING TO BEGIN WITH

So Tama said nothing to him about how Kaidou is wrecking shit at the island and that's why they live in a shithole starving
And what was Ace supposed to do about it? Try to summon the entire Whitebeard fleet to go into a fellow Yonko's territory and start wrecking shit? That doesn't appear to be how the Yonko work - if it was, I'm sure Kaido and Big Mom would have been invading Wano/Totoland for years given their animosity toward each other.

I hope the Marco expalantion isn't all.

Because that would be stupid as well as Neko or Inu could have contacted the WBs easily and Ace was actually there
I could see some elaboration but it seems pretty simple to me.

Wano is a closed country, so no one knows what’s going on inside it, which kaido and orochi have greatly taken advantage of.

Oden deliberately didn’t want to get anyone else involved, he viewed it as his own mess which he had to clean up, which ended up being a terrible decision. Him even actively preventing WB or the Roger pirates from getting news about kaido wouldn’t surprise me.

It’s necessary for the plot. In theory he could’ve asked for both WB and Roger’s help, and kaido and his whole crew would’ve been history in less than an hour.

Ace was a random teenage pirate at the time. And if he begged WB to go save every set of oppressed citizens he came across, they’d be spending their entire lives on it.

Yes, and with Izo being a member of WB's crew, he likely had the same thought.

"Please, Pops. Oden doesn't want anyone else involved. Wano is our business."
