If it's worth 700 - 800 it should be fine with 200+ pounds easily.

I would recommend getting an Recumbent bike instead if you're really heavy to lessen down the weight first before hopping on a treadmill. Hoping on a treadmill with a heavy ass weight is not what I'd recommend for those knee joints.

True, an elliptical is way cheaper and easier on your joints.

I'm not a fan of the elliptical personally due to the awkward leg movement it forces you to do. (Though easier on joints compared to a treadmill no doubt.)

I'd personally always recommend: Recumbent bike (especially if obese) -> Stationary Bike (fairly overweight but want to push yourself more or normal weight range) -> Treadmill (once in proper weight range)
