I'm very curious about how the two of them met.

But I don't think he's a spy, no. He's a loner, so it's useful for him to be able to sit alone in his home and drink some wine. Working for WG gave him that. However, now that Zoro and Perona changed him a bit, let's hope he'll indeed become a RHP.

:amazing:

What's a better question: was he always alone? If not, who was he with as a kid/teen?

Young Mihawk seems to be like Akainu.

Lone kid and dangerous.

I don't think so, i am sure he didn't even had a big reason for joining WG, they invited him and he thought why not.

The relationship btween em didn't appear so to me in their first confrontation, more like they still weren't on such good terms and Shanks had to ask, if he still was there for a fight. Yes, Shanks told him about Luffy, bt it need not to be while they were chilling. Anyway, point being a crewmate won't be welcomed in such a way by RHPs crew.

He could team up with Shanks in future, bt i dont believe he was one from start.

Nah Mihawk has no need to spy on people, he is the strongest being in the Grand Line.

There's a reason why he spends most of his life alone in a castle, try to reason up. :)
