Current Events It doesn't make sense for Oda to kill off Hawkins, Kid, or any other supernova

I feel like a lot of people don't really get the point of the supernova or the worst generation.

The worst generation pirates are supposed to be the greatest generation of pirates, it just doesn't make sense for really any member of the WG to die before the final war. That would essentially mean that Luffy's generation is crap.

This isn't to say any and every worst gen member is stronger than any member from the previous gen. However, there are major indicators of what role Oda intends each member of the worst generation to have.

  • Luffy is the next PK
  • Teach is Luffy's ultimate pirate nemesis(WB, Xebec)
  • Zoro is the next WSSM
  • Kid and Law are bronze medalist great pirates(ex. Kaido, BM, Shiki)
  • Killer will be among the strongest RHM(ex. Oden, Beckman, Shiryu)
  • Drake will be a powerful Vice Admiral, like Tsuru(who saved him during the Law flashback)
  • Bonney will probably be a powerful revo like Kuma
  • Apoo, Urouge, Bege, and Hawkins are the next shichibukai-tier pirates(comparable to Doffy, Croc, Weevil, etc.)

Ultimately, I feel like removing any of them just doesn't make sense, because it just shits on Luffy's generation. Like I think a decent amount of people think Kid will come back, but I've heard significantly less people talking about Hawkins.

Yet, without Hawkins, does the worst gen not have someone comparable to Doffy/Crocodile? It doesn't make sense to me.

Just because none of these guys are an actual challenge to Luffy, doesn't mean that there wasn't a point to their character. At this time, it just seems like the worstgen has had too much build up for Oda to all of a sudden backpedal and state "oh no, forget about these guys, I made a mistake introducing them".

Regarding the supernova "deaths" we have seen as of late
  • I think Oda will reveal that Hawkins was saved by Chopper/Marco/Law/minks. Hawkins will realize that his stupid probability shit is all made up and will stop limiting himself in combat by doing what his cards say.
  • Kid will be saved by plot and his near death experience will make him awaken ACoC, as Luffy and Zoro did under similar experiences
bonus:
  • Drake didn't die or anything. The reason we haven't seen him is because he was escorting several top beast pirates to impel down.

They don't need a special role. Kidd isn't silver medalist and he will never have the reputation of people like Kaido, BM or Shiki.
Rookie Kaido demolishes him for example, he's low diff material for the strongest pirates so nope he's not special.

In Wano, plenty of them were used to contrast with Luffy, Kid, Law, Zoro and Killer (the ones that were not only successful in the New World but didn't need to compromise) so I don't think Hawkins dying would go against the idea of them falling short of the glory the ones with the most willpower will achieve. The next generation isn't really tied down to being like the last so I don't agree all of them need to survive to occupy spots that correspond to the last gen.

Deal with it, it's over🙈
The supernova were last minute editor-suggested fanservice additions. Nothing more, nothing less

I prefer Hawkins to stay dead, mainly because it was a great death (much better played than Asura's and Izo's).

But if he was saved by someone (Drake?) and his defeat from Killer changed his mindset to the point of coming back with a totally different deneanor, then it would be interesting to see him again on-screen.

My question is: why would Drake save Hawkins in the first place? It was Hawkins that fucked up Drake's cover back in Onigashima...

Hawkins should survive and I hope he somehow made it out.

This is one of the rare theories where I mostly agree with you for my own selfish reasons.
I think every pirate that made it this far will end up reaching Lough Tale.

Not all supernova are of same value. Kidd are law are way above Hawkins and fraud drake in hierarchy for example.

Law already shined enough. He was deuteragonist for significant part of post skip.

Law will definitely play significant role in future.

Maybe mid will also.

My thing is that it takes zero effort for him not to just develop these guys off screen.

Just have them come back in the final war with higher bounties. It ain’t that difficult imo.

I feel like Drake is the Tsuru of the worst gen. A powerful VA who never made it to admiral.

My issue with killing members of the WG is that it just shits on Luffy’s generation.

Yeah apart from Blackbeard none of them need to be Luffy’s true rival. But imo they should at least surpass their mid gen counterparts.

If hawkins shows up alive after admitting he had 99% of death, i drop OP.

We need major, important deaths to actually care about the fights and raise the stakes, whats the point of being excited for a war if no one on the good side dies?

You know what's really confusing?

When you guys refer to both the Worst Generation and the World Government at the same time as WG.
