Something to keep in mind about Yamato and the Hanya Mask. In Japanese plays and culture, the Hanya mask is said to be demonic and dangerous but also sorrowful and tormented.

Could this be related to Yamato's character in someway? Being the son of Kaido would obviously make him dangerous/powerful but given that he is helping Luffy could show that he is tormented by his father's association (the Beast Pirates)?

That will be interesting if it's true but I want it to be something else which could solve WB pirates not knowing about Oden.

Maybe the debt was that Big Mom prevents the intel network to get to Whitebeard so he wouldn't know about Oden's situation?

This sounds dumb but it's the same with Oda making Marco say that they basically didn't know.
