I mean, a slavery battle tournament where winner gets to live is pretty crazy/heavy/fucked up.

Imagine having to wipe out some race's last remaining members just so you and your race can keep living for just a bit longer. The guilt and mental anguish would be unbearable, not to mention the physical toll it would take on them too. The defeated races probably cursed the winners too before they died.
