- Oda tells us that the ancient robot in Egghead tried to rampage Marie Geoise 200 years ago
- Oda tells us that Kuma is rampaging Marie Geoise
- Oda tells us that the ancient robot reacts to the drums of liberation from Nika
- Oda tells us that Kuma knows about Nika, the drums of liberation, and has waited for him his whole life
When you follow everything that Oda has been saying and doing with Kuma and the ancient robot, it is safe to jump to that conclusion
We must wait for confirmation of course but it seems to be blatantly obvious
- Oda tells us that the ancient robot in Egghead tried to rampage Marie Geoise 200 years ago

I was thinking Kuma's consciousness might be stored in the robot as a mean of preservation since his real body had it completely erased.
But this is a spin on it i guess, swapping consciousness, is almost like Law's fruit had been used.
Still Kuma and the robot must be connected to communicate with one another. The ancient robot might be too broken to actually move.
In chapter 1067 when Kuma starts moving, it's only after the CP0 arrive. It's not after the reveal of the robot. Either way, if he moved based on that which he likely did, then the two do communicate somehow?! Unless EggHead is broadcasting to Kuma's body info.
Kuma's body might have some routine programming to protect VegaPunk.
Otherwise Kuma awoken a sense of self because the Ancient Robot saw Luffy right in front of him, therefore the two could be communicating and the robot already react to Luffy's presence before.
Still not completely convinced the ancient robot had a consciousness at all. It might be all some computer code and for whatever reason the robot was late about 600 years to attack Imu or Mariejois.
Just how Zunesha failed a promise and perhaps was too late at accomplishing his task.

Got captured by the WG and hunted in a tournament, still escapes just fine and takes Kuma and his supposed sister Jinny with him
Fights and Magellan and takes an poisonous hit right to the face, tanks it and reveals he only corroded his mascara
Does the same to Akainu not too long after.
The only person who is more of a troll is Morley, she had Aramaki SEETHING and snatched Kuma from Mariejois with no problems.
