Blud those who have problem with it are just dull ngl. The first man who told Luffy the name of the fruit is the most mysterious man on the planet. He was visibly upset and obviously told it was a rubber fruit to save Luffy. Its very easy but obviously there are those with less understanding wanting to be cool but not even understanding a simple thing.
The story would have ended there only if it was called the Nika fruit at the first chapter itself. The WG comes to foosha, kills Luffy and ends the manga there only.
Those that believed without any doubt whatever shanks spoke should just keep quiet. They just accepted it, never doubted it and now have problem with it when it was the greatest swerve in the story.
They'd believe a rubber man would beat a magma man just because of plot of will.
There have been multiple instances where people have doubted Luffy's ability. Doflamingo for one, he said Luffy's body was different from what rubber should be. Kaido when he fought Luffy said it too and to not be able to comprehend that a mangaka who has created such a vast world, intricate stories, great plot wouldn't have thought about this is laughable. Those kind of people would believe whatever said to them. If their teacher says 2+2=5 they'd blindly accept it and fight others who say the answer is 4.
