The closest thing we have to a New Rome is America.Rome had roads to mobilize their armies pretty much anywhere in their Empire and America has a navy that can move their army anywhere too.They also have the money,political power and cultural influence.

I'm surely in the minority on these boards but it's kind of fascinating to see people care about the Roman empire in the same way as soccer or the metric system. Like it's not just a big deal to "other people" in different times or places but just outright a big deal. When it comes to the Roman empire I have a handful of Caesar jokes and that's pretty much it.

Roman empire is an american ideal because they aspire to be the same totalitarian propaganda machine.
It's just silly the way certain people romanticise it.
