A role that can no longer win the game is implausible. Usually they leave the game when that happens. It's possible he has misunderstood his role to an extent, pr he's under some form of claiming restriction, but generally speaking, no role would require the player to continue to stay in the game with their wincon being mechanically impossible.

To paraphrase it says something along the lines of, I win when threats to my alignment are gone but because I didn't meet Gaimon before he died, I can't celebrate with the rest of the town regardless.

And like I said last night I couldn't take any actions.
