Because Blackbeard is stronger than Mihawk.

Be careful, ZKKclowns will try to spin the information that Shanks gave about his other scars. :milaugh:

The thing is, we know Shanks likes to shield himself to save others and other scars could be cheapshots, or vs multiple opponents at the same time.

While the only confirmed 1 v 1 fair and square scar Shanks took is from DFless Teach, Mihawk is not confirmed and Mihawk says their duel is left unfinished, no one won between Mihawk vs Pre-Emperor Shanks that DFless Teach scarred.

There are some similarities with Kenshin and Shanks, after Kenshin stopped being Hitokiri, his style doesn't cut people, we see Shanks's and Roger's style doesn't cut too. Oda was an assistant in Rurouni Kenshin series. The scar that Kenshin took on his face was vs a guy who had average skills but had incredible will to live (a guy named Kiyosato), Kenshin was trying to kill him so he revealed his true potential and scarred Kenshin's face before dying.

The same can't be said for DFless Teach obviously since he survived, so even if Shanks saw Teach as a threat and tried to kill him early before Teach can accomplish his plans, Shanks got his scar and DFless Teach survived their battle.

Or that for some reason, we know Teach's goal to find the DF he is looking for, and Shanks was searching Nika DF, they either fought for Nika DF or Darkness DF, and Shanks left the battle with a scar.
