good question, to me chihiro just used something he already has had in his arsenal of movements but he was forced to use it in this occasion so no real power up:

Chapter was nice, but the fights are hard to follow. The named attacked are not well explained and the art does not help it either. Is it only me?

I have the feeling that the fight would look superb if animated to anime.
I think that in some occasion the author doesnt want to show everything (maybe with the hope of a future anime adaptation)

This is the first time this ability is used so we can't tell if it's a power up until it's stated in the manga.

The enemies feel like they're going to be oneshotted so maybe the mangaka didn't bother with the moves.

I agree but let be honest this manga stand for his own merit, it is really getting better each time and if we take all the big manga for the first 14 chapters no one is so popular as kagura bachi

My interpretation of Chihiro's character is that he isn't an edgelord. He's just always serious. He's the straight man in a world full of goofballs. He has a handful of funny moments. And in those moments he just says it with a deadpan expression, and what I assume is a monotone voice. And that seems to be his character gimmick. He's boring because he's SUPPOSED to be. And that boringness makes him enjoyable. But that's just my interpretation based on the few chapters we have so far.
