Is Sukuna a good villain?

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how much of an absolute beast of a villain Sukuna is?

10/10 design
Great dialogue
Extremely intelligent and effective fighter
An absolute menace
An unabashedly evil, “lovable bastard” type of villain, like Frieza.

What I like about him:
- His design - the tattoos, the four arms, even the weird face mask thing work great
- His strength* - a villain that is actually a real threat and kills people (compared to other shonen)

What I dislike or don't care for:
- His strength* - too strong to believably and satisfyingly be defeated by the good guys team (without serious plot convenience)
- His character - meaning his motivations and overall characterization. I guess the "don't give a fuck, evil because I'm evil" stuff works for some people but I'd have appreciated some depth to him

Current Sukuna can't use DE or Ten Shadows anymore, and can't use fast RCT now either. He should also have less than half of his CE left (though Gege has never really made CE reserves actually matter). Higuruma will likely accomplish something to further nerf him. We have yet to see how strong current Yuji is, but given that he was already high grade 1 level before the 1 month timeskip, that Yuji likely ate the 6 remaining Death Paintings to get a pretty substantial boost, and that he had 1 month to train, Yuji may be Special Grade Sorceror level now. Megumi will likely end up helping at some point. Yuta and Maki may show up to help depending on what happens with Kenjaku. Hakari can also help if he beats Uraume.

It's definitely an uphill battle, but I can see Sukuna losing given what we currently know. It largely depends on how big of a PU Yuji got.

I feel like there's too many villains these days with crybaby backstories. It feels nice to have an unabashedly evil villain sometimes

Not that he needs a sad backstory. But just any info on how exactly he became the way he is, what did he do, why does he have this mentality, how did he grow two more arms and a mouth on his stomach, how is he related to Tengen and Kenjaku etc etc

We'll probably learn more about that later on. It was implied iirc that him and Yuji are related in some way

The whole "villain with a good backstory" crap is kinda BS. Every villain has a backstory and people generally tend to ignore it saying it lacks depth when the character in question is too strong. Even if Sukuna has exactly the same background story as the characters that people say are well-written villains, they wouldn't give two fucks about his background story and go on to say his character lacked dept or whatever lmao.

As for Sukuna, bro doesn't even need a backstory at this point. He's already better than most major villains that we have seen without us even knowing jack about him. His background story would just be the icing on the cake assuming he has one.

Also for the backstory part:
None of the villains in JJK really had one.
The disaster curses were literally monsters created from human emotions. That's it.

Geto didn't have one but he still made it work through character development.

Junpei was just an antagonist, not really a villain.

That leaves us with Kenny and Sukuna, neither of which have that much to go off of.

Again, some people may like it that way (strong guy goes brr) but I prefer some nuance to what I read

Sukuna is the best new gen villain for sure
The best part abt him is how good he does the inner demon troupe
Unlike other frauds who simply help the mc
Sukuna tortures his vessel to no end

gojobros don’t like him cause how he massacred their goat
but it’s their fault for thinking gojo will destroy the main villain of the story

and now I am simply waiting for the heian era flashback which formed the natural disaster known as ryomen sukuna

So just cuz likes of kurama actually have characters they are frauds? Lol

i guess cause kurama/Asta's demon had characters they are ass
yes , they are very well frauds
Shitheads are just a plot device for the mc to get stronger with the power of friendship

One of the most hated shounen troupes for me
glad to see sukuna fixing it

Kurama's character and character development in context of the theme of Naruto clears the fuck out of Sukuna its not even funny be serious lmao

I don’t really give a fuck how a devious fox who has every reason to be evil stops doing shit when someone “ understands him “

kurama is a good character on his own

but regarding the troupe I am talking abt ,
He is a literal fraud
A fraud to the inner demon troupe which is supposed to be “ evil “
Same goes with black clover and any other clown who powerups the mc by being a major plot device

Kurama was evil when he was supposed to be evil, so what are you talking about? Kurama sabotaged and always tricked naruto into using his Chakra to make his seal weaker

he even attacked likes of Sakura and jiraiya and harmed them for days and gave the death wounds

he harmed naruto himself multiple times.

but when the time came he had proper character development and stopped doing "Evil" things cause there was no point to it anymore
