He is rayleigh and shakkys son.
Garp stopped chasing shakky 40 plus years ago and she retired from being a pirate around that time. I also think shakky is a former kuja leader like Hancock (her name matches the flower theme iirc) which is why nyom hancock etc all know rayleigh.
Tbf i dont even know how hes a pirate. Maybe he got a bounty from attacking a marine swordsman or maybe he destroyed places in collateral damage to his fights.
Dunno about pirate but we know from the ace novel he was one of the last 2 orignial warlords to join. I believe he may have been asked to join in response to shanks being a yonko.

the strongest Swordsmen from each Emperor crews as well i think ( that's why he knew Vista ) . so King , Shiryuu
4 . currently maybe he's fighting Marines ( likely SSG's weapon ) or an Admiral
( Kizaru/Ryokugyu ) . but if Marines starts bringing too much military power , not sure what he will do .
Marines' military power is too much for any single person to handle . even Roger or Primebeard would get destroyed
5 . after Shanks lost an arm , the world started calling him the WSS .

The marines used that fool for their own purposes, after they finished using him and they decided to throw him away like an old towel, and now the dog is refusing to surrender to his masters.
Whitebeard didn't give up on his territories because of marines or because of anyone, as usual zoro fans are struggling again. Mihawk can't even protect his home island which is not even in the new world, and now Mihawk is forced to leave his own home by fodder marines.
