Yes, you're right, Lucci is a cool and badass character just like all the other opponents that Zoro faced, this is one of the requirements to be Zoro's opponent, but I don't have any other role that Lucci can play after Egghead.

Is usopp going to stay on the sideline until we reach imu? Franky until he builds sunny? Robin until she discovers lost century? Chopper until he finds ultimate cure? This will make non fighters strawhats even more sidelined than they already are.

Its hard to believe that usopp used to be a main character with such importance in early OP.

The reason Lucci isn't Zoro's main opponent is that that's not how Zoro's fights in the series are constructed.

Imagine, Zoro fighting a guy who is already old business, former Luff opponent, a total of 0 named attacks, almost entirely off screen? shut the fuck up lol.

Zoro vs Lucci is just a plot device.
