Sure. The problem was becoming prevalent in the Pre-TS, which is why I said "especially in the Post-TS" not only. And unlike the Pre-TS, now there's a whole religion that praises Luffy for being Nika, whereas the rest of the Straw Hats are little more than his lackeys at this point.

This could happen without Gear 5 needing to be a thing

All Oda needs to do is moderate the tone and people will stop complaining. Gear 5 as a power is perfect for Luffy but if it continues to be written in the same manner than we'll never have those character shift moments where Luffy becomes deathly serious. But if he does it with Gear 5 it'll be more intense as it will catch most people off guard. When Joyboy isn't smiling anymore it's ten times scarier than if Luffy stopped smiling. The freedom that Gear 5 gives Luffy in combat opens up possibilities for more brutal looking techniques, which can accompany that character shift. Let's just hope Oda has something like that in mind.

Luffy is my favorite character, now I'm I one of those crazed obsessed Luffy fans obviously not.

But I will say that when it comes to Gear 5, I personally really like it and imo it fits Luffy's character. Yeah Luffy will sometimes have serious moments but at the end of the day, Luffy has always been a goofy character and this whole goofiness of Gear 5 fits Luffy really well.

However, I will admit that even though I do like Gear 5, I'm not a huge fan of the whole Luffy going "This is fun" while at the same time everyone is in danger and Vegapunk is getting stabbed.

Even in the last arc at Wano, I wasn't a huge fan when Luffy said that during his fight against Kaido.
