Karin of Chu

#1
Let's talk about Chu's head of the military affairs and Great General.

And her strenght as a commander.

Coalition War:
Karin gets selected in Chu to partecipate in the coalition war, the combined invasion from the other six states to wipe Qin off the map. At this time she is a General who has been rising through the ranks. Karin leads the second army and in her introduction, SSK (Chu's prime minster) calls her "a genius at warfare".

In this war, she sure has heck starts demonstrating her huge talent:

- Amongst the entire coalition, she is the one to understand how the troops should be fighting and she facts sends to Riboku orders from the HQ to pass out. Her strategy is about the Coalition soldiers fighting conservatively and if they do so, Kankoku pass will fall in 10 days time.
Riboku sees this and understands and literally gives order to everybody and their armies in the Coaliton to follow this strategy. Lol.
(He also calls her "the real deal").

- Her own plan to make Kankoku fall fools everyone, even Tou. Kanki is like: "this is bad, for real". Ousen's mad strategic vision saves the day but Ousen himself is amongst the very top brains of the series and Karin later reiterates that the man could get there thanks to that idiot Ordo.

Still from that arc:

- Karin is gigantic and literally is almost as tall as Kanmei. As weapon she also has a mace Moubu/Kanmei style and she is drawn perceiving arrow shots. While we didn't see her fighting, all leads to believe that she is a very powerful warrior.

- Already back then, Karin's own personal retinue of elite soldiers are classified by SSK to be #1 or #2 in the entire Chu's military.
(Also Taigo's unit, once considered one of the most powerful in the Ouki's army, was shocked that they couldn't even get a single step in against Karin's soldiers with their side flank attack).

So like I said all of this is from the Coaliton Arc, when she was still an unknown general to China. This event changed all that and put her name on China's grand map.

Chu's Head of the military affairs:
Years later, (Great General) Karin is invited to a meeting by Renpa to discuss Chu's future. Karin has now been Chu's #2 commander for a while and we have this meeting with the old legend. Upon these two meeting each other, the sensation I got is that it was a meeting between peers, top dogs who respect each other's status.

In this few chapters, we learn another few things.

- Ri En, who wants to rebuild a more powerful Chu than ever before, wants Karin to act as a part of a two people system with him. She's essential for the military side and she in facts accepts and becomes Chu's Head of the Military Affairs, a role that Hara directly parallels to Riboku's in Zhao and Shouheikun's in Qin.
"So after my lord SHK and Riboku in Zhao, the Chu have now elevated a skilled strategist in a position of great power".
After her nominee, Shouheikun puts the surprise attack on Chu that he had planned on hold.

- It is shown that Karin understands, just like Kou En, that Chu has yet to utilize the full potential of its resources.

- We also learn that Karin has 300,000 troops under her command. That's a fucking insane number lol.

Juuko arc:
During this arc, she is seen reflecting about Shouheikun's intentions. She correctly suspects about Tou's army and sends as help to Juuko Kouyoku and Hakurei and their armies. Now I won't talk about the Juuko battle here but Man'U own voluntary battle shutdown upon his interaction with Moubu is worth mentioning. Man'U in fact actually picks Karin's interest, who wants to have a coversation with him and see if he is "an useful idiot" otherwise she'll "cut him down right there".

Current events & final conclusions:
With us deeply into the Zhao invasions arcs, Chu (and thus also Karin) have been put on hold.

Anyway Great General Karin, Chu's #2, is undoubtely a monstrously powerful commander, one of the very best in China.

I think she is at least as strong as the likes of Koshou and Rinshoujo and when the big Chu wars come, we can expect absolutely terrific performaces on her part.

Put your thoughts and discuss:cheers:

Her war elephants were hype

Completely forgot about this lmfao. One of the more hype feats now that I’m thinking in hindsight. This bitch turned to the plains of Africa lmfao. How did she even hide these things in hindsight lol. Second most unintentionally funny tactic in the history of Kingdom right behind the Houken body double.

Alright anyway OT: I never understood why she was underestimated by the fanbase. She was always dripping portrayal as a high GG level commander. They made her the head of the Chu military ffs and she claims to be as strong as Kanmei.

Just imagine if on top of fighting multiple Qin6/Zhao3 commanders in Chu, Karin also unleashes the wrath of Africa upon Qin lmfao.

EOS Kingdom is going to be quite silly.

The big baddie of Chu
:steef:
Kanki on steroids and that isn't exaggerating. Her coalition feats are still Top Tier. She's a naturally gifted genius at warfare like Kanki but she actually has top tier understanding of traditional warfare and was even hyped by Riboku.

Girl thinks several steps ahead like Riboku and on top of all that she may be a Moubu/Man'U level combatant.

Karin will make a shit ton of Top Tier generals look average. I would love Hara to feed YTW for her hype.

She is an interesting commander. Shame we didn't really see her in action since Coalition War, it would be fun to see her battle one of 6GG again.
She actually did battle Moubu after the coalition war during the rebellion but the Chu forces pulled out and it was almost entirely off-screened.

She actually never said that in the manga, I have only read this in some wiki I think lol.

But anyway she's probably a monstrous warrior. And she's tall as shit, taller than people like Ouki, here is a comparison of her standing in front of Kanmei vs Ouki standing in front of Moubu:

For being the outstanding military mind that she is, that already makes it an outrageously hard task to defeat her or even go on par with her lol.

So comparing the height of Karin and Kanmei to Shibashou:

Assuming Karin and Kanmei’s men are of the same height as Shibashou’s (I actually think Shibashou’s guys might be slightly taller as they are Seika elites) these guys when standing straight up:
-Come up to roughly the bottom of Karin’s tits
-Roughly the bottom of Shibashou’s chest

God dayum, Shibashou really is a Karin/Kanmei sized giant lmfao.

She's obviously going to be a monster

I reread Coalition and was greatly impressed by her. After Ousen and Riboku she has the best mind for tactics in all of China till GHM proves himself imo

Her portrayal is outstanding, and her young age only means that she'll just get better with time.

Very interested in seeing her backstory with her brother too.

As for GHM and Karin, the latter had the clear cut superior portrayal at the Coalition. Homei was hype (using advanced formations and crazy sieging towers) but he wasn't Karin tier hype.
@Elder Lee Hung @MarineHQ

And I don't think Karin being > Homei was ever meant to change throughout the story.

I think peak Gohoumei (Wei invasion) might well be the strongest tactician in Wei's history, so Karin being stronger than him should just speak volumes on how monstrous she is.

As someone who is incredibly hyped for Houmei ( I think he will go toe to toe with all out Tou ) I think I give Karin the edge as well just based on the role she will have.
Chu will be The campaign after Zhao and Karin can be anything Hara wants. Man'U level combatant or Kanki style of unorthodox warfare or Houmei level traditional warfare (one level below RBK/Ousen).

I had written on this at the beginnig but let's add a few panels and other details on that.

The rebuilder - making Chu reach new, unprecedented heights:

Shunshinkun -> had one of the biggest clouts in all of China, had personally built up the superstate of Chu in the last 20 years.
He was one of the Four Warring States Lords and an extremely outstanding figure.

After his passing, Ri En wants to see a stronger Chu than ever, and needs a military phenom like Karin to do that, as otherwise the resulting nation would onle be of mediocre strenght.

I can't stress it enough, this is absolutely gigantic portrayal lol. With Karin holding the post of a Prime Minister and handling the military side of things, Hara sets them up to be the strongest they have ever been.

Karin's position is put into direct comparison with Shouheikun in Qin and Riboku in Zhao.
Three powerful strategists at the helm of the three strongest states, all of them holding a position of power above the rank of Great General. (Though in Karin's case, she also continues the old the position of Chu's Great General at the same time).

Karin's portrayal is nuts. And when we get to Chu, we're gonna witness an absurd level of warfare from her.

I also imagine that she directly leads one of the strongest ass armies in the verse. This girl had Chu's best or second best elites when she was an unknown General to the rest of China back at the Coalition, and then had 300,000 troops under her before she got elevated to Prime Minster. For fuck's sake.

When Hara presents to us her army structure in its entirety, things might get silly for real.

It's going to take a long time before the readers get to see Karin pull off something major in the story here (becoming the prime minister of Chu aside). Despite rumours of her high combat capability (she's equal to current version of Ouhon), her portrayal as a commander/strategist that plans out strategies/tactics during campaigns was presented clearly to us readers during the coalition arc.

Right now I'm not really impressed with her atm since theoretically stronger commanders such as Riboku fought against Qin's 6 great generals (Ousen and Kanki in particular) and he almost died from one of those battles. Her capability as a commander/general would be boosted significantly if she had a frontline battlefield general whose role was to perform most of the heavy lifting.
