I was said this after the unofficial translation drops.
He might had suicidal habits for trying to seek an attention from Yamato who admired Oden that much.
Imagine when you're his/her parent, but he/she admire someone other than you as his/her parent.
I don't know if any of you guys read Baki the Grappler, but I get serious vibes from Kaido as being loosely inspired by Yujiro. In the series he is also known as the World's Strongest Creature, and also referred to as "Ogre".
In the series Yujiro kills Baki's Mother to make Baki stronger. So I wouldn't be surprised if Oda goes this route with Kaido.
Also, the series revolves around Baki's quest to surpass and defeat his father in a fight.

Who would have imagined that the world's strongest creature and the "king of hostages" and 'that thing" as big mom calls him, would have such a soft spot....
Lol true, I guess he wanted to "knock some sense" into her. He seems like he has some type of code (asking Momo his dream, killing that witch for interfering in his fight with Oden) and her wanting to follow another father figure violated that code.
Do you not understand what I am saying?
She had one with Ulti, so is she banging Ulti too? Utterly ridiculous to think as that's the be all end all.
What all y'know she could be attempting to distract... female spys do that. So she might have a hidden goal.

Well it'd be interesting if Oda decided to delve deeper into the themes of alcoholism in this scenario. You have the alcoholic father who abuses his child, but when he's sober he tries to make it up to him/her by being the loving father figure who promises the World, but ends up breaking those promises everytime they drink again.
