I would go with lions (I like them more). Don't know the specific difference in strength and size between the two (tigers have different species with varying attributes). 60% (IIRC) of lions body weight is pure muscle mass. Lions have a weird lifestyle cycle and personality which is very different from tigers imo. Lions are raised as cubs in a big family/pride while tigers are raised by their mothers mostly (like many other big cats). Lions are then exiled from their pride so incest doesn't happen, at this time they roam in nomadic groups and eventually take over another pride by killing the previous leader/s and their offspring. Tigers rarely engage in this sort of behavior (they are turned away by their mother and they also establish their territories but not like lions do).

And when they take over a pride they are mostly doing a few things, resting, engaging in big hunts (when target is too big for lionesses) and protecting the territory and their pride from other nomadic lions.

Between the two I would say lions are the ones who are more focused on fighting and their behavior is more kingly (not good for humans but still more of a conqueror nature) than tigers.

Realistically it depends on the individual.
Tigers aren't far larger than lion to completely overwhelmed them, both are pretty similar in size.
Some Lions are bigger than some tiger and vice versa
Bigger wins over smaller generally.
Which means not every full grown adult Amur/BengalTiger will beat every full grown African/Atlas Lion

If we take similar sizes of same experience + both prime age, then Tiger has an edge. Better in ground game, faster reaction, more athletic/flexible, ability to used hind legs, bite force, claws, teeth, swipe etc. The tiger fights like a house cat i.e using all of it's body parts efficiently. Lions are brawlers, their endurance, tenacity and stamina are their main power over tiger. But Tiger advantages outclass lion advantages especially both in same weight division.
That's why only if the specific Lion is bigger than the tiger( at least 20-30kg difference), Lion would generally win.
Otherwise tiger.

And if we talk about general as a whole, than Tiger are generally bigger than Lions tooon average, so again Tiger simplistically.

amur Tiger vs The african lion both males
females are fodder ofc
nah no lion currently alive can beat a siberian tiger, if the cape lion was still alive then the lion would probably win, the barbary lion was big but because of the way it hunted then it doesn't stand a chance even if its almost as powerful as the large tiger, maybe the tsaro lion can hold its own if they fight in a favourable terrain like swamp then the tsaro lion can outlast the tiger and win 1 in 10 times

No other lion lovers here? :josad:

I know it comes down to size in animal fights generally (not always, if anybody has seen rooster fights they would know), for similar size competitors I would go with lion but usually tigers are bigger (Siberians specially) and they would win.

:pepestop:

Lions are lazy fucks who rarely engage in combat, lionesses do the hunting. Tigers hunt their food, they know how to fight
those are male lions who have already taken over a pride, male lions on their own do all the hunting, some lions on their own bring down water buffalos, that's why it wont be as easy as some of you think it would be for the tiger, even after the tiger wins the probability of it surviving the fight are rather low at best.
