Why can’t we like our own posts?

You can like and retweet your own posts on Twitter, but people can see that you do it, and they'll usually point it out.
The ONLY time it's acceptable to like your own posts is when the algorithm is against you so you like your own post within the first 10 minutes, to let the algorithm see 'activity,' (for smaller accounts). But then you're usually supposed to unlike it as soon as the 10 minute time window is over.
