Neko, this made me realize something amazing.
The Gorosei don't HATE humans. I've been bothered for a long time by two moments that I felt contradicted each other regarding the Gorosei.
In Ohara, when they were realized Ohara had to be destroyed, we see the Gorosei Saturn crying. Look at the face, it's him. Long nose going straight out, mustache.
Then, prior to this arc, we see Saturn saying that what is happening with Vegapunk is such a shame. He's clearly bothered by it.
Why would Saturn be so bothered... if he's so evil. Look at him talk to Doberman. He things of humans as insects, but says they can always reproduce. What does that imply? That the Gorosei can create life itself. Even if all life is wiped out, they can recreate life. Souls... Wills continue on. Matter if just clay they shape.
What if Saturn actually thinks he's the good guy? That the life beneath him is too weak and stupid to control itself, and if he allows it to do whatever it wants, it will only cause ruin?
Think of what Whitebeard said. A Great War is coming, Luffy vs the WG, and the WG wants to prevent it. They don't love murder, they just want to do everything to stop the natural order from being displaced. They view humans as lesser, but not evil. They view us as animals who need to be put down when we have rabies.
Then, when he captures Bonney, we see him lamenting and being angry. His face doesn't look furious at her when she talks about Kuma, rather grief-filled, as if he's remembering people he had to kill.
The Gorosei talking to Clover about the Ancient Kingdom was Saturn.
But... who gives the order for Clover to be killed? Look at the long nose in the panel with the text "Kill him". Look at the silhouette. It doesn't match any Gorosei.
THE PERSON WHO ORDERED CLOVER'S DEATH WAS IMU-SAMA
I don't think the Gorosei want to kill people.
I think they can't stop Imu.
What did Kaido say to Luffy?
He asked him, after he Awakened, if he was still himself.
That's what Imu is.
A Celestial Dragon who was taken over by the Soul of the worst Demon in the world.
