Character Discussion Usopp is even more annoying now

#1
I know he always was but I expected things to change a little bit once we reach the late stages of One Piece and fight against the major villains. But he is still the same whiny weak dude who shrieks like a little girl and has a coward personality. Not worthy of being a subordinate of a Yonko and the future PK. The fact that someone like him can actually travel around in the new world and stay alive against this calibre of opposition is just too much plot armour at this stage.

Too much plot armor? It's plot armor for the opposition for Usopp to be kept weak, he has been with Luffy for every fight against the warlords and trained two years in an island with man eating plants, for him to be weaker than fodder is not plot armor It's reverse plot armor

Literally his Dream is to be recognized as Brave Warrior
So it's obvious that for 99.99% of Story, Usopp will always be an Annoying Weakling
His Final Act is to prove that He is not anymore
it would have been better and more realistic imo if we saw a slow and steady transformation rather than one hype moment in the final arc or so.

you can see it that way if you want to. But then again it would be still bad writing. I just want to see some development and change in Usopps character. But it looks like Oda indeed has taken the decision to just give him one big hype moment in the final arc or so and portray him as a brave warrior.

Maybe it started now in Final Saga
We also don't get much regarding Nami's World Map or Chopper's Studies or Robin's Research or any Info on All Blue or barely anything from Mihawk ... etc So it's not just Usopp, Everyone Dreams are reserved for now

But now that Egghead Started, look what happened, Usopp is reuniting with Dorry/Brogy & closer than ever to Elbaf, Robin learned that Saul is Alive & Ohara Books are in Elbaf, Egghead is full of Science & Transportation stuff for Franky to learn from, We are slowly getting more info on Mihawk, Fishmen Discrimination that started 200 Years ago is mentioned which is important obviously for Jinbe's Dream to Stop Racism ... etc
And i'm sure We will get more Info on All Blue, Chopper's Cure & Brook's Backstory ... etc

Usopp just gets shit on cuz his Dream relies on his Usefulness unlike others who can still be useful without their Dreams being present in current Plot, so it's more noticeable & more annoying, but in general, all SH's Dreams were Sidelined & it's clear that They were reserved for Final Saga, Egghead restarted those Sub-Plots & it's gonna be a slow & steady transformation from now on

So it's not just One Hype Moment, it's One Hype Arc focusing on Straw Hats Dreams for let's say almost 100 Chapters or whatever OP gonna lst for after Egghead Ends

I found Usopp to be much more likeable in this arc now that he's reunited with the giants, he understood the assignment immediately after they showed up. His planning has been useful too.

I won't deny that Usopp is still a coward, but he is worthy; he is brave when it counts, loyal and he has been calm under pressure many times post skip. Compared to characters like Nami/Sanji/Chopper/Luffy he isn't actually that annoying for me.

I think Oda has done a decent job with Usopp, keeping him in the background and mostly adding technical expertise and luck, he may still be a coward but now he is a coward with legitimate skills. Fine he had plot armour against Sugar, but Sugar's abilities were complete bullshit to begin with, I'm glad she got taken out by a gag.
